Munich is the capital of Germany and the third largest state after Hamburg and Berlin on the basis of population, while it is the largest city of the state Bavaria. The city derives its name from the word “Munichen”, which means “by the monks” referring to the monastery that was run in the old town of Munich by the monks. The official colors of the place stand as black and gold, after the color of the Holy Roman Empire.
Why to visit the place
Munich is not only for the people who live there, but it acts as a hostess to everyone. Munich has the major national and international authorities and is known for the fine music and art, major museum and arts, exhibitions, conferences and international sports events. This place also called as the heart of the village is at half an hour way from the majestic Alps. Some of the places that can’t be left untouched when one is on a trip.
Providing the view of the mountains, Englischer Garten has all the boating, biking, strolling opportunities. Also, the highest point of Germany at the height of 2962 m is in Munich, named as Zugspitze.
The moments of Olympics 1972, still lives in the Olympic Parks along with the guided tours and sightseeing and has the ice skating rink, pools, tennis courts, playing grounds and all the sport activities.
Not to sound sadist, but one can visit the concentration camp at Dachau and see for themselves how people survived the holocaust and still rebuild and live in such a beautiful city.
With an exhibition in the museums of the classical arts in Alte Pinakothek and that of the modern art in Pinakothek Der Moderne, and colorful display of an artwork in Museum Brandhorst, each place has a dignified and aura of its own. Marienplatz or Virgin Mary is a highlight in the city center. Deutschces museum and Bavarian National Museum are other museums with their own magic.
The architecture of Munich is best revealed through the architecture of Marienplatz, Frauenkirche, Peterkirche, etc.. Also, there are multitudes of places to visit like Old Town Hall, New Town Hall, Justizpalast, etc.

As stated earlier, Englischer Garten is a highlight with an area greater than that of Central Park in New York and things to do that might thrill anyone.
To all the beer lovers, this place gives one more reason to drink, the Oktoberfest, where all you need to do is sit in a tent and drink beer. Also, the rest of the year isn’t dry itself, with so many beer halls, one can’t resist himself from saying yes to Alcohols.
The summers with the swimmers in its waters, while river rafting and Oompah Band Rafting on the Isar River is a thing not to be missed.
Well, this place has in store for the Christmas lovers too, the ChristkindlMarket with all the gifts and items you need to purchase. There are day trips also available to the Alps and Schloss Neuschwanstein.

How to reach/Accommodation
Munich has a traffic hub connecting it internationally, nationally, regionally via air, road, and waterways. One can reach the Munich airport, that is 19 miles from the city center and from there they can take the bus or the rail to the city center. One can travel in the city through taxi, bus or metro trains or to go to another city one can travel through intercity trains and buses.
Although Munich was burnt down to ashes by the end of the 2nd world war, blown by the opponents, but it was re-erected on the grounds, flourishing as ever.
